The number of small growing start ups is huge, but so many seem to be making the same mistakes. Focusing on scaling and recruitment without thinking about who and how all these new employees will be managed, thinking that taking time to develop people to slow down growth when over the long run (and I mean months not years) it’s far more likely to enable higher paced growth.

The six month trial of a four day work week announcement in June 2022 created a lot of chatter about whether to do it, how to do it and which organisations are doing it.

But in all the discussion there has been a conspicuous absence of one topic that I think warrants discussion - doing less.
